Programme of Study and Courses leading to Academic Award of the National Certicate of Education
A programme of study is the approved curriculum leading to a specified and named award of the National Certificate as followed by an individual student. The programme may be identical with a course or may be one of a number of standard routes within a larger course programme. The College Of Education will admit students to its courses on a full-time, part-time, mixed-mode or distance learning basis as appropriate. All programmes of study will conform to the Institution's regulations and requirements as may be accredited by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).
At present, we are a growing community of about 2000 students, but which is intended to grow quite rapidly. The College Of Education has been constituted to achieve the status of Centre of Excellence in the very near future.
In particular, you will experience two important aspects of our modern education. Firstly, there is much more emphasis on 'student centered learning'. This means that you will take a highly active part in your own learning and will not be a passive body to which information is fed, only to be quickly forgotten. It is expected that this will facilitate much better understanding of the topics involved and lead you to be able to develop your own ideas. Secondly, you will see that there is a major shift in the assessment regime. The over-reliance on traditional examinations has been replaced with a mixture ofcontinuous assessment and examinations, where in many cases modules only use continuous assessment. The overall aim of the innovative methods used in this College is to prepare you for life-long learning and to be able to stand on your feet as an entrepreneur with all confidence at the end of your course.

Honorary Fellowships This Institution will confer honorary fellowships of the Institution upon persons of distinction whom it deems to have made significant contribution to the work of the Institution.

Collaboration with other Awarding Bodies and with other Institutions The College of Education, Ekiadolor will act jointly with professional associations and with other awarding bodies to make available courses leading to recognized awards of such associations and bodies. The Institution may permit other institutions to offer courses leading to an award of other degrees. Such courses will be validated and approved by the Institution in accordance with the Statutes and Principles.

Academic Framework
The Academic Framework is designed to reflect modern practice. This Regulatory Framework refers to the following programmes of study:
1. Pre-National Certificate in Education (Pre-NCE)
2. National Certificate in Education (NCE)

Duration The Pre-NCE programme is one academic year, full-time study. The NCE programme is three academic years, full-time study. The Diploma Programme is two academic years on weekends. More part-time study programmes will be established in due course.

Levels & Stages The Pre- NCE programme consists of just one level. The NCE programmes consist of three distinct levels. Modules on the first stage of the programme are expected to be at level NCE 1. Modules on the second stage of the programme are expected to be at level NCE 2. Modules on the third stage of the programme are expected to be at level NCE 3. For a full-time programme, a stage equates to one year of full time study. For a part time programme, a stage normally covers two years.

Requirements for the Award of Pre-NCE Students who complete and pass the prescribed programme of study over the single stage are awarded the Pre-National Certificate in Education. All terminal Pre-National Diploma Examinations will be externally moderated. Students are expected to score at least 50% in all subjects offered in the externally moderated terminal examination.
